Storage and Clutter in the Home is a design documentary on how people store and display things in their home, and the clutter that emerges.
I am present as filmmaker and interviewer, on the soundtrack and sometimes in the image too. The clips are an example of documentary intervention techniques with some elements of performance.
The fact that the objects that I talk about with the protagonists are not always shown was attractive to the imagination of the designers, who for instance imagined a landscape in the cupboard under the stairs.
The film clips are all 1-2 minutes and were presented as separate clips and in an interactive interface. The length of the clip shown in this blog is 2 minutes.
I made the films with Mark Bentley and Det Bazelmans, for the Equator IRC team of Bill Gaver at the Royal College of Art in 2004.
