STBY (Standby) was founded in 2002 by Geke van Dijk and Bas Raijmakers. We both worked as researchers, consultants and managers in the internet industry. We have a long and successful history of working as a team. In 1993 we founded ACS-i media research and projects in Amsterdam, the first usability company in the Netherlands. In 2000 we merged with Lost Boys, currently LB Icon, to form the largest interactive media company in the Netherlands. In 2002 we left Lost Boys to start STBY and deepen our research skills through PhD research.
STBY focuses on research approaches and techniques that can be used at the very early stages of innovative service design projects when researchers and designers, in close collaboration with other experts such as engineers and marketeers, need to discover what matters to the people they design for. STBY offers different services that contribute to this multidisciplinary exploratory and creative stage, such as design documentaries and other creative research approaches and workshops. STBY is based in London and Amsterdam. See www.stby.eu for more details.
